Jay attended the University of Tulsa School of Law where he obtained his Juris Doctorate in 2006. While in law school, Jay was also a member of the Boesche Legal Clinic. Before studying law, Jay attended Oklahoma State University where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Hotel & Restaurant Administration. He also earned minors in Business and in Marketing. Jay is currently licensed to practice law in the state of Oklahoma.

Before joining the Tulsa, OK divorce lawyers at Stange Law Firm, PC, Jay spent the past 15 years in solo practice, representing clients in a variety of family law situations (mostly divorce and custody matters) and drafted necessary documentations for custody and visitation agreements and divorce settlements. He also represented clients in matters including pre-judgment and post-judgment custody, parenting time and child support issues, divorce and separate maintenance, and step-parent adoption. Jay also has expansive experience in all phases of land work including all necessary documentation, calculations and correspondence. Prior to working in solo practice, Jay spent time as a legal intern for the Corps of Engineers where he researched legal and evidentiary issues pertaining to Corps of Engineers Right of Ways and federally owned assets. He also spent time as a Law Clerk for a firm in Tulsa where he was tasked with drafting legal memorandums on points of law, draft pleadings and motions, file preparation and filing.
