Attorney Biography
Criminal defense attorney Cassandra Bautista’s objective is to protect the rights of the accused while explaining each aspect of the process along the way. Cassandra ensures that justice is a process that individuals participate in, rather than something that is “done to” them. She is passionate about helping her clients through difficult legal situations and seeking justice on their behalf. Cassandra is diligent, meticulous, tough, and works tirelessly to ensure her clients’ rights are protected.
In addition to her experience working with clients on an array of criminal defense matters, Cassandra also has experience in immigration law and defending clients’ rights. Cassandra started her career as an immigration and criminal defense attorney in St. Paul, representing clients in Immigration Court (EOIR) and before U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), and in District Court all over the State of Minnesota. She is fluent in Spanish and primarily represented the Latinx community.
Following this role, Cassandra was a prosecutor for multiple cities in Dakota County for three years. She prosecuted gross misdemeanors, misdemeanors, and petty misdemeanors before joining Sieben Edmunds Miller as a defense attorney. Cassandra brings a unique perspective to each case because of her experience as a prosecutor.
Cassandra is also deeply committed to serving her community. She partners with CLUES (Comunidades Latinas Unidas En Servicio), a St. Paul-based nonprofit, where she teaches a weekly course to help individuals prepare for their citizenship interview and test with USCIS. This role highlights her dedication to empowering others and providing guidance to those navigating our complex immigration systems. Cassandra’s work with CLUES reflects her compassionate approach as both a person and a lawyer, demonstrating her belief in justice, equality, and advocacy for underrepresented communities.
