Attorney Biography

James Blumberg is a dedicated and skilled criminal defense attorney who has practiced law for more than a decade. Throughout his time as an advocate for men, women and juveniles facing criminal charges, James has handled a variety of cases in Apple Valley and the surrounding areas in Minnesota.

Some of the most common charges James handles include DWI and other drunk driving-related charges, drug crimes, marijuana offenses, domestic violence, theft and property crimes, serious traffic offenses and a myriad of juvenile related crimes. In addition, he also handles administrative penalties associated with DWI charges and other issues, such as expungement.

James earned his bachelor's degree from St. John's University before earning his juris doctor at Hamline University School of Law in St. Paul. Soon after, he began his career in the criminal justice field with the Dakota County Attorney's Office in the Criminal Division.

As a former prosecutor, James is able view his client's case with a different perspective. He understands how the prosecution works and what prosecutors will do to get a conviction. This experience on both sides of the law allows him to build a strong defense in each case and challenge evidence presented against his clients.

When he is not representing clients, James uses his spare time remain up-to-date on legal issues. He is a member of several national, state and local legal organizations, including the Dakota County Bar Association, Ramsey County Bar Association, Minnesota State Bar Association, Minnesota Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.
