Horrible defense attorney
My husband was arrested in 2020, was denied initial bond "because he applied for public defender"
was the illegal excuse. Wille Jr was appointed in first week of January. The first, and only, thing
we wanted was a bond. In March we finally hired a real attorney because Wilke Jr seemed to be
getting nowhere with the bond. Wilke Jr managed to get discovery packet (or at least the part that
the prosecution wanted us to see), yet no bond. My husband was then illegally transferred to another
jail for filing complaint that another inmate was threatening to kill him & several others in the
pod (broke 5 state laws transferring him), & Wilke Jr stated that he "could not contact my husband
because he didn't have the correct app on his computer to communicate with the other jail (was
during covid & everything was done via video call). Wilke Jr NEVER contacted him the entire month he
was there claiming the app excuse the whole time. He also never fought to get my husband back in
Jasper where he belonged so he could defend himself. He literally served a month of "dead time" at
the other jail because nobody would help him. Unlucky for them, my husband worked on Pickens County
Sheriffs vehicles & the sheriff knew hum personally. The major of the jail transferred my husband
without the sheriffs knowledge (which is how they broke 5 state laws), & he was contacted about the
transfer & my husband was brought back the very next day & the major was fired for transferring him
to the other jail. So why did Wilke Jr never do this, or even try to do anything? Upon returning, we
hired a real attorney & new attorney filed for bond & got it almost immediately. After my husbands
release, we checked the records & found out PJ Wilke Jr NEVER even filed for a bond as we were
begging him to do all along! All Wilke Jr did was exactly what the prosecutor wanted him to do. My
husband researched the law while incarcerated, & found out that he fully qualified to receive a bond
(there are 12 reasons someone cannot get bond & NONE of them applied to my husband or his charges).
When he told Wilke Jr about the law & what he'd found, Wilke asked him to forward what he had found
so Wilke Jr could review it himself. Shouldn't an attorney especially a defense attorney know the
bond laws already? Upon reading the Bar Associations rules & conducts for defense attorneys, we
found that the #1 rule for defense attorneys is to get their client out of jail so they can properly
defend themselves.
PJ Wilke Jr either knows NOTHING about being a defense attorney, or he simply works for the
prosecutor in Jasper Georgia. Wilke Jr cares nothing about his clients obviously. I recommend anyone
who gets PJ Wilke Jr appointed to them, drop him & request another attorney if you really want help.
Wilke Jr has Proven that he is incompetent or just doesn't care about his clients.
