About Catherine W Kim

Attorney Biography

Catherine is designated by the State Bar of California as a Certified Specialist in Estate Planning, Trust, and Probate Law.  Less than 1% of the practicing lawyers in California are Certified.  To be a certified specialist, an attorney must have extensive experience in estate planning law, and must demonstrate this knowledge by passing a highly-competitive examination.  In addition to passing the exam, the attorney must be recommended for certification by other attorneys or judges who are familiar with the attorney's work, and must undergo extensive and continuing education.  Catherine has also received recognition from other lawyers familiar with her work, as a Superlawyers Rising Star designee in the top 5% of lawyers in California.

Catherine has been working with probate and estate clients since 1996, and actively works to inform the community about planning techniques to reduce estate taxes and probate fees.  She has co-authored several articles on estate planning for print in newspapers and periodicals.  In addition, she has spoken about estate planning in local media and given estate planning seminars to individuals and financial professionals in Northern and Southern California.  She is also able assist Korean speaking clients in their native language.
