Attorney Biography
Josh began his legal career handling thousands of felony cases at the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office for over five years. Recognized multiple times as the "Attorney of the Month" for his exceptional trial work, Josh's dedication and skill were evident from the start. He progressed to Major Crimes and subsequently became an integral part of the Repetitive Offender Bureau, successfully handling over 3,500 federal cases.
Driven by his reputation as an aggressive trial attorney, Josh was handpicked by the attorney general of the Republic of Palau to lead a groundbreaking anti-human sex trafficking operation. His efforts resulted in the liberation of numerous Filipino girls from the clutches of sexual slavery. During his tenure, he also played a pivotal role in modernizing Palau's legal system, successfully trying the second-ever jury trial in the country's history.
Seizing the opportunity to make a difference, Josh joined the Coconino County Attorney's Office as a Senior Trial Attorney. He swiftly became responsible for handling high-profile cases, training junior attorneys, and supervising their work. Josh's expertise extended to capital cases, homicide, white-collar crimes, and sex crimes, where he consistently demonstrated his prowess in the courtroom.
The United States Attorney's Office recognized Josh's exceptional abilities and recruited him to tackle a wide array of complex criminal cases. From drug trafficking and human smuggling to gun crimes and Fish and Wildlife offenses, Josh's relentless pursuit of justice was unwavering. His impressive five and a half years as an Assistant United States Attorney included working closely with federal agencies on multifaceted investigations. Josh's work in the "ACE" unit, focused on prosecuting civil fraud cases, further highlighted his diverse legal acumen.
Beyond his trial skills, Josh is a gifted legal writer, having triumphed in two complex appeals before the Ninth Circuit. His reputation among his peers, including judges and fellow attorneys, remains exemplary. It comes as no surprise that Josh has been the recipient of numerous awards and commendations for his outstanding contributions to the legal field.
Devoted to serving his community, Josh has assumed leadership roles within the State Bar of Arizona. As a member of the Bar's Council on Persons with Disabilities in the Legal Profession, he chaired the council for an impressive three years. Under his guidance, the council earned the prestigious "Presidential Award" twice, acknowledging their exceptional leadership and dedication to the legal community. Josh's exceptional public speaking skills, refined through his trial experience, have made him a sought-after faculty member, delivering inspiring motivational speeches at the Bar's annual Arizona Bar Convention.
Born and raised in Phoenix, Josh's educational journey began at Central High School. He went on to graduate summa cum laude from ASU's Barrett Honors College in 2004. In 2007, he earned his Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from the esteemed University of Miami School of Law, solidifying his foundation for an exceptional legal career.
