J. Brandon Shumaker came to West Virginia University in 2001 as a pre-law, political science major before enrolling in the West Virginia University College of Law in 2005. Prior to graduating law school in 2008, Brandon accepted a position with Brewster, Morhous, Cameron, Caruth, Moore, Kersey & Stafford, PLLC, in Mercer County, West Virginia, where Brandon is from originally. In 2012, Brandon returned to Morgantown, where he has established his own practice focusing on Criminal Defense, Consumer Protection from Creditor Harassment/Bankruptcy Alternatives, and West Virginia University Student Conduct Board proceedings. Brandon has appeared before the Supreme Court of Appeals of West Virginia, the United States District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia, and in the following West Virginia Circuit Courts: Boone, Fayette, Greenbrier, Harrison, Jackson, Marion, McDowell, Mercer, Monongalia, Monroe, Preston, Raleigh, Summers, Taylor, and Wyoming.
