Timelime of My Husband’s Immigration Case
with Attorney Vicky J Currie.
I am sharing this to help others understand my experience working with an immigration attorney.
Everything below is based on my own records and recollection of events.
Timeline:
• May 2022: Another attorney filed my husband’s I-589 Application for Asylum.
• June 2022: Attorney Vicky J Currie filed supporting evidence for the asylum application.
• September 2022: The asylum application/evidence was denied
• October 2022: My husband was deported to Mexico.
• March 2023 – Present: Vicky informed me that she filed for both a U visa and a T visa for my
husband. She also told me that my husband had chosen deportation instead of continuing to fight his
case.
• May 2023: Vicky relocated her office without informing me. She stated she kept client files in
boxes and only began uploading them to a computer after the move.
• 2023 – 2024: Vicky told me she lost the receipt notice for the U visa application during the
office move. She also explained that locating my husband’s file was taking time because it was
among hundreds of boxes.
• Since January 2024: She explained that delays in sending me the file were due to “immigration
being crazy” this year.
• November 24, 2024: My husband passed away.
• Present Day: I have still not received my husband’s complete immigration file from Vicky
despite multiple requests.
Also my husband's online USCIS account doesn't show any U visa or T visa application was ever
submitted.
