His legal journey began with academic excellence at Sam Houston State University, where he graduated with highest honors, double-majoring in Economics and International Business. His early career at the Texas Department of Banking sharpened his investigative skills, particularly in detecting fraud and money laundering within financial institutions.

Motivated to pursue a career in law, Steve earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Texas at Austin in 2018, graduating with honors. During law school, he distinguished himself in mock trial and moot court competitions, earning accolades in the prestigious Thad Hutcheson Moot Court Competition.

Steve’s post-graduation career began at the renowned law firm of Gibson Dunn & Crutcher, where he represented Fortune 500 companies in complex litigation. This experience gave him a deep understanding of navigating high-stakes legal matters with precision and strategy.

Seeking to serve his community more directly, Steve transitioned to the Collin County District Attorney's Office. As a prosecutor, he represented the State of Texas in thousands of criminal cases, handling everything from petty theft to aggravated robbery. His time in the DA's office gave him invaluable insight into prosecution strategies, which now serves his clients well in building strong defenses.

Today, as the founder of The Sears Law Firm, Steve draws upon his diverse legal background to passionately defend individuals facing criminal charges. His dual experience in civil litigation and criminal prosecution allows him to craft well-rounded, effective defense strategies tailored to each client's unique circumstances.
