Attorney Biography
David Hamel was born in Oklahoma City and spent much of his childhood all over the United States. In 1997, he returned to his home state of Oklahoma, and he now lives in Oklahoma City. Prior to entering the legal practice, Mr. Hamel raised show cattle and competed around the state. He also worked for his uncle as a veterinarian technician and worked cattle on farms, ranches, and sale barns across the state. In addition, he served in the United States Marine Corps where he served a tour of duty in Iraq. David received a B.A. in Political Science with an emphasis in International Relations from Oklahoma State University.Upon graduation, David attended Oklahoma City University, where he earned his Juris Doctorate Degree and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration. While in law school, Mr. Hamel was very active in student organizations and was the President of the Second Amendment Shooting Club, an organization dedicated to educating the public about firearms and hosting shooting sport events. He was also the Treasurer of the Public Interest Law Group, an organization dedicated to awareness and representation of the legally underserved.Mr. Hamel sparked an interest in firearms law and criminal defense while in law school and earned the CALI award for Firearms Law and Policy, an honor reserved for the top student in a course. Additionally, he received the Dean’s Fellowship and interned at the Oklahoma County Public Defender’s Office where he aided in the representation of individuals charged with misdemeanor and felony offenses. Mr. Hamel interned for Robert A. Manchester III, the famed Ballooning Barrister, where he ultimately became an associate upon being sworn in and licensed by the Oklahoma Bar Association. While working for Mr. Manchester, Mr. Hamel refined his skill set by representing clients in criminal, civil and appellate matters.David Hamel thrives on helping his clients both in and out of the courtroom. He believes in helping people who have made a mistake get the best deal possible, while also guiding those clients to a better place than they were before they got into trouble. Just as important, Mr. Hamel believes wholeheartedly that justice must be served and when duty calls, the government, its agents, and all those associated must be held accountable
