Attorney Biography
William H. Hunthas been a trial attorney in Ohio for over thirty-nine years. He has appeared before the Ohio Supreme Court, various Ohio courts of appeals, and trial courts at the county and municipal level throughout the state of Ohio and before the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio.
Mr. Hunt’s litigation experience extends to commercial, construction, personal injury, wrongful death, domestic relations (family law), collections, contracts, probate litigation and public utility matters.
As the newly developing area of collaborative law has grown as an alternative to litigated divorce, Mr. Hunt has re-focused his divorce/family law practice in this area.
Mr. Hunt is an ardent believer in the concept that interest-based negotiation is vastly superior to traditional divorce litigation.
Mr. Hunt earned a Bachelor of Science degree in biology and a Master of Science degree in industrial administration from Purdue University in 1969 and 1970 respectively.
Mr. Hunt graduated from the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law of Cleveland State University magna cum laude in 1975.
Since being admitted to the bar Mr. Hunt has trained in collaborative law, general and divorce mediation, as a guardian ad litem and parenting coordinator.
Mr. Hunt serves as an approved Guardian ad litem and Parenting Coordinator for the Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court Division of Domestic Relations.
Mr. Hunt is a member and trustee of the Center for Principled Family Advocacy, an initial member of the Cleveland Collaborative Practice Group, and the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals (IACP) as well as the American Bar Association, the Ohio State Bar Association, the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association (formerly, the Cleveland Bar Association and the Cuyahoga County Bar Association) and the Catholic Lawyers Guild of the Cleveland Catholic Diocese.
Mr. Hunt is admitted to the bar of the State of Ohio, the United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio, the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit and the United States Supreme Court.
Additionally, Mr. Hunt was on the adjunct faculty of the David N. Meyers College (formerly, Dyke College) paralegal studies program, teaching courses in civil litigation for paralegal students.
Mr. Hunt is the principal of W. H. Hunt Legal Group, LLC in Westlake, Ohio.
