Attorney Biography
Since graduating from the Wake Forest University School of Law in 2003, I have dedicated 100% of my professional life to the area of legal practice we call family law – separation, divorce, child custody, child support, alimony, and property division. I do not dabble in other areas of the law in the name of the almighty dollar and there is experimental detours in the name of law firm diversification. Just a principled and steadfast loyalty to obtaining the experience and developing the knowledge which allow me to provide you the very best advice, the most responsive service, the highest level of attention to detail, and the handling of your case in a professional and detail-oriented manner.
I am often asked by my friends and prospective clients whether it really matters who you hire to handle your family law issue. The answer is “yes, it does matter, it matters a great deal.” Specifically, the quality of the legal education obtained by your family law attorney matters. It matters whether your family law attorney has dedicated his or her practice exclusively to family law issues. It matters whether your family law attorney has years of experience both in trial and mediation so as to be able to give you the correct advice as to the likely outcome of your case, the pros and cons of the different options, and any liabilities which may be associated with your options.
It matters whether your family law attorney has participated in hundreds of mediations and trials. It matters whether your family attorney received the requisite mentorship during his or her early years of practicing family law. It matters whether your family law attorney is truly a seasoned trial and mediation attorney as advertised. It matters whether your family law attorney is responsive to your questions and concerns. It matters whether your family law attorney keeps you apprised of the status of your case and prepares you for all of the events and circumstances associated with your case. And it matters whether your family law attorney is able to take a collaborative approach to your case to give it the best chance at a reasonable resolution without having to go to court, while at the same time not being afraid to pivot and go to trial if such action is required.
At Coggin Law, it is our belief that it matters who you hire as your family law attorney. So if you are dealing with a family law issue, and if you are seeking a seasoned trial or mediation attorney, we are here to offer you the expertise, advice and/or representation which you should expect and deserve. We welcome the opportunity to assist you during this difficult time.
