Attorney Biography
Samita is a Partner at Foley Hoag LLP. Samita represents companies, private equity sponsors and investment banks in a variety of equity and debt transactions in the capital markets, in syndicated loan financings, in cross-border restructurings of stressed and distressed businesses, and in mergers and acquisitions. Samita has helped companies in aggregate raise over $30 billion in capital and restructure over another $10 billion in debt, often with market-leading terms in Europe, Asia and the U.S. Backed by years of study in social inequality and ongoing lived experiences as a Muslim immigrant woman of color, Samita also champions for diversity, equity and inclusion efforts. Samita is a trustee on the board of Foley Hoag’s charitable arm, co-developed minority attorneys’ training groups to advance practice area skills, led firm committees at the associate and partner level, formally advises the AAPI affinity group at Foley Hoag, proactively assists recruiting diverse candidates, regularly mentors diverse law students and junior attorneys, and does various speaking engagements highlighting her thought leadership on these topics. Samita is also committed to activism through pro bono efforts, having worked hundreds of hours to assist domestic violence survivors, at-risk children, prisoners of conscience, human rights advocates, and tortured prisoners, among others.
