Attorney Biography
Mr. Daniel F. Thomas is an attorney in Poughkeepsie, NY, with the law firm of Van DeWater & Van DeWater LLP. His practice is focused on commercial real estate. He represents borrowers and lenders with respect to acquisition and construction loans, re-financings and workouts. He has represented major U.S. banks in everything from small commercial loans to multi-billion dollar lending transactions.
He also has considerable experience representing real estate fund sponsors and investors in the formation and subscription of real estate and infrastructure-based funds. In addition, Mr. Thomas is well versed in the acquisition and disposition of both commercial and residential real property.
Mr. Thomas graduated from Bucknell University with a dual B.A. in Philosophy and Psychology and from New York University with a M.A. in history (with an area of focus in early American legal history). In 2007, he received his Juris Doctor degree from Albany Law School, where he was a senior editor of the Albany Law Review, a member of the Justinian Society and the recipient of the Dean Sponsler Honor’s Teaching Fellowship.
He is a member of the New York State Bar Association and the Dutchess County Bar Association and is admitted to practice in New York State.
