Attorney Biography
Alfred Mainetti, is the senior partner of Mainetti, Mainetti & O’Connor, P.C., a practice which primarily represents clients who have sustained serious injuries.
Al attended Monmouth College in Monmouth, Illinois and participated in college activities, as diverse as theater and college football graduating in 1969 with a Bachelor of Arts in English. He then attended John Marshall Law School, Chicago, Illinois graduating in 1972 with a Juris Doctorate and returned to Kingston, New York to begin the practice of law with well known personal injury attorney, William Curran, Esq. In only a few years, Al was a partner in his own firm and thereafter, with his younger brother, Victor Mainetti, as Mainetti & Mainetti. However, in 1992, Victor was diagnosed with cancer and died in March of 1993 at the age of 37. His name is maintained in the firm title. In 2002, Al became partners with Joseph O’Connor and the firm Mainetti, Mainetti & O’Connor, P.C. was founded.
Al is dedicated to long hours, hard work and personal contact with his clients in every case. After forty years in practice there are few personal injury scenarios with which he is not familiar. Today, the firm’s practice covers all of the State of New York and other venues as well. Mr. Mainetti litigates multiple multi-million dollar settlements and verdicts for his injured clients.
Al was born November 29th, 1946 in New Milford, Connecticut. His family moved to Poughkeepsie, New York when he was three. His father, Marino, was a contractor and Al worked in the construction trades from the age of fourteen through college and law school. He worked in concrete, construction and commercial painting as well as home construction in both New York and Illinois during his summer breaks.
Al married Josephine in 1980. Josephine is an amateur photographer and loves to travel. They have two sons, Michael, who graduated Albany Law School in May of 2010 and Alex, who graduated Albany Law School in May of 2013, both are associate attorneys in the firm. Al and Josephine are proud of their sons, who both played football, among other sports in high school and college. Al loves the outdoors, including hiking, ATV riding, hunting and shooting sports. He and Josephine also enjoy raising Black Angus cattle as a somewhat unusual past-time.
Al is a member of New York Trial Lawyers (1994-present), American Bar Association (1981-present), American Association of Justice (formerly American Trial Lawyers Association, 1985 – present), Ulster County Bar Association (1974-present), Committee on Professional Standards (Supreme Court Appellate Division, Third Judicial Department, 2004-2010), pro bono assignments (Ulster County Courts, 1975-2000).
The firm contributes regularly to charitable events and functions throughout the Hudson Valley and have been the primary sponsors of City of Kingston Fourth of July Fireworks celebration since 2009.
