Attorney Biography
Michael Schwarz gained his admission to the New Mexico Bar in 1980 and is a sole practitioner in Santa Fe. In 2008, he received the State Bar’s Professionalism Award, the state bar’s highest award. In addition to writing the New Mexico Appellate Manual (second edition), he also authored several publications, some of which have appeared in the New England Journal of Medicine and the Journal of the American Medical Association. He served on West Publishing Editorial Advisory Board for ten years. Schwarz was past chair of the Employment and Labor Law Section of the New Mexico State Bar and former president of the First Judicial District Bar Association. Schwarz served on the Rules of Professional Conduct Committee from 1990 through 2007 (chair 1999-2007). He is a member of the American Law Institute. He served on the consultative group for the Restatement (Third) on Employment and Labor Law. He is currently serving on ALI consultative group for the Principles of Government Ethics. He's listed in Best Lawyers in America in the employment and civil rights area and was Best Lawyer of the Year for 2016 in employment law. He is also listed in Super Lawyers for a number of years in the area of empoyment law. He’s a speaker for in Advanced Employment Law for ALI-ABA. He is board certified in Labor and Employment Law by the New Mexico Legal Specialization Board. Schwarz received his legal training at the University of New Mexico, Oxford University (England), and Cambridge University (England)
