Attorney Biography
Mary Hinton is a University of Missouri-Columbia alumna who worked over 31 years for her alma mater. There, she primarily worked in grants and contracts administration, but also held positions in business management, human resources, and fiscal operations. Her employment in these roles required an attention to detail that translates to her work as an attorney. When you chose Mary Hinton to represent you, this attention to detail will help her diagnose the strengths and weaknesses of your case.
After working for many years at the University of Missouri-Columbia, Mary Hinton chose to pursue her life-long dream of being an attorney. She attended the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Law as a non-traditional student. During law school, Mary worked for the Veterans Clinic helping to appeal disability claims and the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance clinic preparing personal income tax returns. After receiving her Juris Doctorate and passing the Missouri Bar exam, Mary began working for the State of Missouri as a Hearings Officer in Child Support Enforcement. This quasi-judicial position required her to conduct telephone hearings addressing child support, establishment, enforcement, and modification issues and to render written decisions for each hearing. After working in this position for two years, Mary decided to pursue another life-long dream to become a small business owner and open her own law office.
Mary's practice areas include estate planning, family law, traffic violations/DWI/BWI, personal bankruptcy, real estate, individual taxation, and veteran's disability claim appeals.
As a solo practitioner, Mary Hinton will be directly involved in your case and available to answer questions whenever they arise. She is selective about the clients she chooses to represent, so you will get the attention you need from her during your representation. Mary is also willing to meet with clients on evenings and weekends when needed. If you are home-bound and require assistance with estate planning, Mary can meet with you at your residence.
Clients are not just a source of revenue to Mary. Mary understands the distress legal issues can cause when the law crosses family lines and affects our lives. She understands the importance of a well-crafted estate plan for your loved ones. If you are facing a traffic violation, a landlord-tenant dispute, or bankruptcy, Mary is also willing and able to provide the the legal advice and support you need.
