I gained valuable experience working as a prosecutor in Jefferson County, Missouri. After I left the prosecutor's office to become a criminal defense attorney I have handled many cases in all areas of criminal defense. It has become clear that my strengths are in trial work, specifically in the areas of Sex Crimes and DWI. I did not become a criminal defense attorney with the intention of handling many sex cases; however, as I have achieved more and more successful results in this area I have made it a focus area of my practice. The investigation of many kinds of criminal cases can become very technical for a police officer, such as administering field sobriety tests in a DWI case or questioning a child witness in a sex case. I have found that my most successful case outcomes have been achieved through challenging the technical and complex areas of police investigation. Learning exactly how the police should properly handle an investigation and then illustrating for a judge or jury all the shortcomings of a police investigation has been a very productive practice for me and lead to great results for my clients.
