Attorney Biography
Kurt A. O’Keefe is a solo practitioner with multiple offices in southeast Michigan, admitted to practice in both the Eastern and Western Districts, with 35 plus years experience in bankruptcy and other consumer law fields.
He received his B.A., cum laude, from the University of Michigan in 1976 and J.D. from Wayne State University law school in 1979.
He is a member of the Catholic Lawyers’ Society, the American Bankruptcy Institute, and the National Association of Consumer Advocates.
Kurt is board certified in consumer bankruptcy law, by the American Board of Certification, since October 11, 2001. He is a participant in pro bono program of Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, since 2003, and is on the panel of attorneys for Access to Bankruptcy Court for the E. D. of Michigan, and Michigan State Chair for the more than 100 plus state members of the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys.
He has lectured on bankruptcy and other issues for the National Business Institute, and the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys, in Michigan, California, Illinois, Nevada and Louisiana, and for the William J. O'Neill Regional Bankruptcy Institute in Ohio.
