Attorney Biography
Mr. Lakin has an extensive insurance background, with over ten years of experience in that industry. He is a former adjuster, supervisor and manager at both Liberty Mutual Insurance Company and the Lexington Insurance Company of Boston, the largest excess and surplus lines insurance carrier in the country. He has handled, developed, managed and litigated various claims dealing in a variety of liability areas, including auto, premise, products, environmental and toxic torts. He is a former workers compensation manager and has lectured on workers’ compensation laws in Massachusetts.
Mr. Lakin has experience in developing and managing an environmental claims unit handling and specializing in asbestos, silicosis, chemical exposure, lead paint, DES, latex, TMJ, tobacco, breast implants, carpal tunnel, radon, and other latent injury/toxic tort cases, as well as pharmaceutical negligence and drug product cases. He has litigated and managed various types of environmental bodily injury and property damage contamination cases. Mr. Lakin also has handled, managed, litigated and settled hundreds of insurance coverage disputes both in the Untied States and abroad. He has been involved in and is experienced with reinsurance, reinsurance settlement disputes, and cedant/reinsurer recovery disputes both in the domestic and London markets.
Mr. Lakin is general counsel for sports marketing companies, including StayfitUSA.com of Atlanta, Georgia. Mr. Lakin also has tried many civil trials and is the litigation partner in charge of insurance litigation, toxic tort litigation, employment disputes, and environmental law. Mr. Lakin also represents small businesses including manufacturers, nursing homes, and service companies. Mr. Lakin is also currently a sports and entertainment agent representing National Football League players, he previously represented NFL players, including Tom Mcmanus (Jacksonville Jaguars) and Actor Tom Arnold. Attorney Lakin represents many production and film companies, as well as various athletes and artists. Mr. Lakin is also an adjunct professor of law teaching sports law at Massachusetts School of Law
