Attorney Biography
Frederic C. Heyman joined the practice of Bennett & Heyman, P.A. in 2012 with a focus on medical malpractice and personal injury litigation, after a successful 13-year career as a senior trial attorney at the law firm of Peter G. Angelos, P.C. where he also represented victims of medical negligence and serious personal injury/motor tort and product liability.
His previous litigation experience also included a position as the administrative partner at Mehlman & Greenblatt, LLC, where he was responsible for client development, as well as management and litigation of cases within the firm’s existing civil litigation practice and their then-newly-developed criminal litigation practice. Here, Fred developed specific practice areas for the firm such as criminal defense, motor tort, workers’ compensation, and social security disability law as a complement to the firm’s preexisting medical malpractice, commercial litigation, and bankruptcy practices. He also served as a managing partner at Heyman & Schlaich, P.A. where he focused on civil and criminal litigation and the firm’s personal injury practice, ranging from soft tissue to catastrophic injury. Fred started his career as a associate at a then large insurance defense firm in Baltimore, and brings the knowledge of “how the other side thinks” to his current practice.
Fred’s passion has always been helping those who are the victims of medical negligence and catastrophic personal injury.
After spending three years at the University of Maryland’s College Park campus, Fred then received his B.A. (Cum Laude) in political science from the University of Maryland Baltimore County in 1984. He received his J.D. from Temple University School of Law in 1987. He is admitted to practice in Maryland, District of Columbia, and the United States District Court for the District of Maryland.
