Attorney Biography
PETER J. LOSAVIO, JR, J.D., CELA, is a member of Losavio & DeJean, LLC, in Baton Rouge, where he has been practicing law for over 30 years. He is a Certified Elder Law Attorney by the National Elder Law Foundation and is one of approximately 400 attorneys in the United States with this certification and the only attorney in Louisiana is a Certified Elder Law Attorney. Mr. Losavio’s professional certifications include: Certified Public Accountant; graduate of CFP Professional Program, College for Financial Planning, Denver, Colorado; Board Certified Tax Law Specialist; Board Certified Estate Planning Administration Specialist; and accredited legal attorney by the Department of Veteran Affairs. He is a member of the Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Texas, and American Bar Associations, National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, Special Needs Alliance. Mr. Losavio received his B.S. degree and a Master’s Degree from Tulane University in New Orleans. He graduated from Louisiana State University Law School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and received a Masters of Law in taxation from the University of Florida. Mr. Losavio has lectured on elder law, estate planning administration and tax law; has been selected as a Top Attorney in Louisiana and Super Lawyer in 2010, 2011, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016; and an “AV Preeminent rating by Martin- Hubbell, the highest possible rating, has been appointed by the Louisiana Supreme Court as assistant Bar examiner; is a volunteer mentor for the Louisiana State Bar Association Transition into Practice; and recently authored the book, A Louisiana Guide to Alzheimer’s Care and co-authored the Louisiana edition, How Not To Go Broke in a Nursing Home.
