In Louisiana, simple possession of marijuana carries up to a 6 month sentence for a first offense, up to 5 years for a second offense, and up to 20 years for a third or subsequent offense.
I have been actively involved in the defense of drug offenses (including weed) for over 3 1/2 decades. I am quite familiar with the mission of NORML and have the t-shirt from my volunteer work with NORML in the mid 1970's to prove it.
