Attorney Biography
Practice Areas: Mr. Hoeme represents persons charged with any crime in the municipal, state, or federal courts of Kansas. Mr. Hoeme’s practice is concentrated on representing persons charged with serious traffic offenses, driving under the influence, drug crimes and other crimes against persons. Admitted: Mr. Hoeme is admitted to practice before the Kansas Supreme Court, all other Kansas courts, and the United States District Court for the District of Kansas. Education: Mr. Hoeme graduated from Washburn University of Topeka, Kansas, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science in 1999. Mr. Hoeme received his Juris Doctor degree in 2002 from Creighton University School of Law in Omaha, Nebraska. While attending law school, he was the President of the Federalist Society and served in numerous other law school organizations. Professional History: After graduating from law school, Mr. Hoeme returned to Kansas and opened a private law practice in Beloit, Kansas. In 2004, Mr. Hoeme was elected Mitchell County Attorney. He served as the county's Chief Prosecuting Attorney through 2008. In January of 2009, Mr. Hoeme took a position as the lead narcotics prosecutor for the Shawnee County District Attorney's Office in Topeka, Kansas. In the summer of 2009, Mr. Hoeme was offered a contract with the U.S. Department of State's International Narcotics & Law Enforcement Affairs Bureau, as administered by Pacific Architects and Engineers. Mr. Hoeme served as the Legal Education and Training Advisor in Afghanistan until June of 2011, when he returned to Kansas to lead Joseph & Hollander’s DUI and Traffic Practice Group. Membership: Mr. Hoeme is a member of the Wichita, Kansas, and American Bar Associations. He is a member of the Kansas and National Associations of Criminal Defense Lawyers. He is also a member of the National College of DUI Defense Lawyers. Special Notes: As a Prosecuting Attorney, Mr. Hoeme served as an instructor for the Kansas Narcotics Officers' Association's Top Gun school and the Kansas County & District Attorneys Association. Mr. Hoeme had the privilege of serving as an instructor at the National Advocacy Center in Columbia, South Carolina, where he taught trial advocacy skills. Mr. Hoeme also served as an Instructor for the National District Attorneys Association by presenting lectures on "Managing the Complex Drug Case."
