Justin Putney

Justin joined McCarthy & Hamrock, P.C. in 2022 as a Law Clerk and then was brought on as an Associate Attorney in September of 2023. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from The University of Northern Iowa and a Juris Doctor from Drake University Law School. While at Drake Law School, Justin was involved with the Moot Court Arbitration Team, the Criminal Law Society, The Children’s Rights Clinic, and received certification in criminal prosecution and defense. Justin’s areas of practice include OWIs, Drug Offenses, Assaults, Thefts, Domestic Violence, and Weapons Offenses.

Justin will be a dynamic addition to the legal team at McCarthy & Hamrock, bringing a unique blend of education, experience, and dedication to the practice of law. Justin’s practice will be focused on criminal defense in both state and federal court. As an attorney at McCarthy & Hamrock, Justin is committed to upholding the highest standards of legal ethics and professionalism.

Justin is actively licensed in all of Iowa and is a member of the Iowa State Bar Association, and National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.

Justin grew up in Forest City, Iowa and currently resides in Des Moines with his wife and daughter.
