Attorney Biography
George Lattas has experience in finance, real estate, and tax. His ongoing law practice focuses primarily on commercial real estate matters and corporate/business organization. While studying finance and economics an undergraduate, George worked for GE Real Estate as an analyst. Upon graduating from law school in 2008, George accepted a position working in public accounting with Deloitte, where he obtained exposure to complex tax compliance and regulation. George then started a practice focusing on loss mitigation and bankruptcy and was responsible for negotiating over 1,500 long term loss-mitigation resolutions on his clients’ behalf and filing over 300 bankruptcy matters.
In 2011, George accepted a position as General Counsel to a commercial real estate development and management company. In that capacity, George negotiated and drafted commercial leases, amendments, and assignments with the range of tenants from national companies, to individuals starting their first business.
In November 2013, George formed his own practice focusing primarily on commercial real estate whose clients include institutional-investor landlords, small and mid-sized national tenants, as well as individuals and partnerships. In this capacity, George continues to represent his clients on purchase/sale agreements, title examination and closing; lease negotiation, consummation, and administration; corporate formation and administration; and tax compliance issues. George also has expertise in forming new business organizations, negotiating share/unit purchase and sale agreements, and advising on labor matters. He has successfully obtained variances and approval to re-zone property in multiple municipalities throughout Illinois.
George has been named a Rising Star by Superlawyers in 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019 and Outstanding Young Alumnus by the DePaul University College of Law. He has been featured on Chicago’s NBC Channel 5 discussing the legal implication of real estate matters, taught several collegiate courses, serves on the DePaul University College of Law Dean’s Advisory Council, the Koraes Elementary School Board, the DePaul University College of Law Alumni Engagement Board and on the boards of other philanthropic organizations.
