About Richard Hornsby

Attorney Biography

Richard Hornsby is a third generation Central Floridian and a second generation criminal defense lawyer. He is dual Board Certified in Criminal Trial Law by the Florida Bar and the National Board of Trial Advocacy.

He earned his law degree from the University of Florida, holds a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Central Florida, completed the NACDL White Collar Criminal Defense College, and is a Master's Candidate in the University of Florida Forensic Science program.

He serves as the WESH 2 News Legal Analyst and is frequently called upon to provide legal commentary for the Orlando Sentinel.

In 2007 he was voted Best of the Bar in Criminal Defense by the Orlando Business Journal and has been recognized as a Rising Star in criminal defense by Super Lawyers Magazine in 2012 and 2013.

Founded in 1958, NACDL is the largest organization for criminal defense lawyers fighting to preserve fairness within America's criminal justice system. The organization has more than 10,000 direct members including criminal defense attorneys in private practice, public defenders in state or federal court, U.S. military defense counsel, law professors and judges.


National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws NLC -

More than 350 criminal defense attorneys belong to the NORML National Legal Committee (NLC). Members of the NORML NLC include many prominent criminal defense lawyers who are dedicated to ending prohibition of marijuana through education, legal reform and activism. Attorneys focused on other practice areas also belong to the organization.
