Attorney Biography
Mr. Bourgoignie represents corporations and individuals in business and family-based immigration matters and matters tangentially related to the representation of foreign national clients during their process of assimilating into the United States’ economic and social fabric. Mr. Bourgoignie began his legal career as a solo practitioner in 1992. In 1996 he transitioned his practice to Becker & Polialkoff, P.A., where he remained until 1998 when he joint Ruden, McClosky, Smith, Schuster and Russell, P.A. (“RMSSR”). In 2000 he became Partner at RMSSR and became Head of the Immigration Department for the 190 attorney firm. In October, 2001 Mr. Bourgoignie joined Sandler, Travis, & Rosenberg, P.A., a nationally recognized Trade and Customs law firm with 300 attorneys and where Mr. Bourgoignie was also a Member of the firm and Head of the Immigration Department. In 2005, Mr. Bourgoignie’s career came full circle and he re-established Tristan Bourgoignie, P.A. where he practices today.
Mr. Bourgoignie received his J.D. degree from the Cumberland School of Law at Samford University in Birmingham, AL, and he holds a B.A. degree from the University of Miami (FL). Mr. Bourgoignie, who has also studied at the Université Catholique de Louvain (Belgium) and the Universidad Complutense de Madrid (Spain), is fluent in English, French and Spanish, and is AV rated® by Martin-Hallandale. Previously certified by the Florida Bar as a specialist in Immigration and Nationality Law (2000-2010), Mr. Bourgoignie also served as a member of the Florida Bar's Certification Review Committee for Immigration and Nationality Law (Vice-Chair, 2003-2004) and as Vice-Chair of the Immigration Advocacy/Legislative Sub-committee of the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce’s Immigration Committee (2004-2005). Mr. Bourgoignie is also a 2002 graduate of the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Miami program. In 2012, Mr. Bourgoignie was decorated by Nicolas Sarkozy, President of the French Republic, as a Chevalier in France’s Ordre National du Merite for his longstanding representation of South Florida’s French speaking community. Mr. Bourgoignie's professional affiliations include The Florida Bar, the American Immigration Lawyer’s Association (AILA), and the French-American Chamber of Commerce.
