Attorney Biography
Joseph J. Registrato is the founding partner of Registrato Law, a full-service divorce and family law firm. Mr Registrato has a long and distinguished career representing clients, as well as a great deal of real-world experience in other fields before coming to the law.

Joseph J. Registrato was an active duty sergeant in the aviation wing of the United States Marine Corps from 1965 to 1969 and spent a year in the Republic of Vietnam from 1968 to 1969. Mr. Registrato was honorably discharged from his military service.
After leaving the military, Mr. Registrato moved into the field of journalism. Among his other stories, Mr. Registrato covered headline news and matters affecting the legal community. During his time writing for the Tampa Tribune, Mr. Registrato covered the trial and punishment of two Hillsborough County circuit judges who were lying about their qualifications and accepting bribes.
Mr. Registrato advanced rapidly in his journalism career and was named City Editor of the Tribune and then Assistance Managing Editor. However, Mr. Registrato wanted to do more than write about the law and the stories in the headlines. Mr. Registrato wanted to be a part of the legal system and represent clients who needed an advocate.
At age 40, Joseph J. Registrato started law school at the University of South Florida. He was a full time reporter for the Tribune while he attended school and he jumped into his studies at the same time that many of his peers were beginning to wind down their careers.

Graduating with honors from USF. Holding a staff position on the Stetson Law ReviewUpon graduating, he worked as a prosecutor for Hillsborough County, learning the ins-and-outs of how cases are prosecuted. His experience helped him to develop the skills of trying a case to a jury, which is one of the most challenging and stressful aspects of being a lawyer.
Mr. Registrato’s work as a prosecutor convinced him that he wanted to start his own firm to provide legal assistance to those who truly need it. Those who are accused of a crime need to be represented by a qualified lawyer for the justice system to work. Those who have family law matters need an advocate to help them protect their relationships. Mr. Registrato founded Registrato Law to provide the services he believes every client deserves when involved with the legal system.
Mr. Registrato firmly believes lawyers should avoid bragging about their accomplishments. His personal philosophy is to always be ready, to come prepared for a fight and be aggressive when necessary, but to focus on finding smart and thoughtful solutions to meet a client’s needs.
