Attorney Biography
Jason E. Havens is a Partner at Holland & Knight LLP. He specializes in complex estate and charitable gift planning (domestic and international), probate and trust administration counsel, wills and trusts, and probate and trust litigation for affluent individuals and families and on behalf of charitable organizations. Mr. Havens is admitted to practice law in Florida and Tennessee.Mr. Havens received his LL.M. in International Taxation from Regent University, his LL.M. in Estate Planning from the University of Miami, his J.D. from the University of Tennessee, and his B.A., magna cum laude, from Lipscomb University.Mr. Havens is an active member of The Florida Bar, the Tennessee Bar, and other professional organizations. He regularly publishes articles and commentary on business, estate, and tax planning in national and local publications including Probate & Property (American Bar Association), the Journal of Practical Estate Planning, the Family Foundation Advisor, the Planned Giving Design Center, and the Journal of Accountancy. Mr. Havens has also lectured at various programs on business, estate, and tax planning, including the 37th annual Heckerling Institute on Estate Planning.Mr. Havens is a Board Certified Specialist (B.C.S.) in Wills, Trusts and Estates Law (The Florida Bar). He is also a board certified Estate Planning Law Specialist (EPLS) in Tennessee. Mr. Havens is a Fellow of The American College of Trust and Estate Counsel. Based on his leadership in the legal profession, he was appointed as a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation. In 2012 Mr. Havens was appointed as a director of the National Association of Estate Planners & Councils' Estate Law Specialist Board, Inc.; he was elected secretary/treasurer in 2013 and president in 2014.
