Attorney Biography
F. GREGORY BARNHART is an honors graduate of Vassar College and The Cornell Law School. He is a frequent lecturer and author in the jury trial field. He is past president of the Federal Bar Association and was an elected member of the board of directors of the Academy of Florida Trial Lawyers. Mr. Barnhart has served as treasurer, secretary, and president of the Florida Justice Association, in addition to being named in The Best Lawyers in Americafor the past 16 years. He is listed in Law and Leading Attorneys; has been recognized as one of the "Legal Elite" by Florida Trend Magazine; has been named one of the "top lawyers" by South Florida Magazine; was voted as one of the 3000 leading lawyers in America by LawDragon Magazine; and is recognized as one of Florida’s "Top 100 Superlawyers".
Mr. Barnhart was a member and former chair of the board of trustees of the Florida Lawyers Action Group, the political arm of the Florida Trial Lawyers, and served on the board of directors of the Academy Foundation. From 1990 to 1996, he sat on the Judicial Nominating Commission, the group that selects all of the trial judges for Palm Beach County. He was appointed by the Florida Bar and by the Governor to serve on the Fourth District Court of Appeal Judicial Nominating Commission, and is Chairman of that commission for the year 2010-2011.
In March 1997, Mr. Barnhart was elected to the board of directors of "1000 Friends of Florida," and he is now secretary of that organization. The group's mission is to protect and improve Florida’s quality of life by advocating responsible planning for the state’s population growth.
Mr. Barnhart is a board certified civil trial lawyer with more than 65 million-dollar and multi‑million-dollar verdicts and settlements for his clients in personal injury, product liability, auto and truck collision, medical malpractice, aviation and railroad disasters cases, and large commercial and will contest cases. Mr. Barnhart enjoys teaching lawyers and others about trial work, and has lectured regularly in Florida and other states. Indeed, Mr. Barnhart has been honored with the "Distinguished Lecturer" award by the Florida Justice Association.
