I began my career in New York, where I worked during law school and after graduation for a family owned general practice firm. I primarily worked on family cases but I also assisted with real estate closings, personal injury case preparation and general litigation. When I left that position I went to work at a large firm in New Jersey in the family department where I gained additional experience and insight into divorce, custody, child support, equitable distribution and post judgment issues.Thereafter, I opened my own practice and in addition to family matters I continued to pursue general litigation and some criminal defense work.
I relocated to Florida in 1994 and prior to obtaining my Florida law license I was the Executive Director of a 501c3 not for profit debt counseling agency asisting consumers with debt issues. After obtaining a Florida license to practice law (1997) I continued as Executive Director working hard to ensure compliance with IRS regulations and state laws through out the continental United States. In 2006, I went back into private practice with a focus on individual debt issues including but not limited to: bankruptcy, alternatives to bankruptcy, claim of exemption, student loan assistance and defense, debt litigation defense and family law. Additionally, I continue to take on general litigation matters.
I am committed to helping individuals with the problems and issues they face. I have a holistic approach to solving an individuals financial and often legal issues. To learn more check out my website: www.canty-law.com
