Attorney Biography
Brian Tannenbaum is the founding partner of Tannenbaum, Trost & Burk, LLC in Denver, Colorado, and manages its transactional and regulatory practice. Brian has extensive experience with a variety of practice areas including business formation and restructuring, mergers and acquisitions, asset sales, real estate and land use matters, regulatory compliance and licensing, tax matters and estate planning.
Since 2012, Brian has spent much of his time working with clients involved in Colorado’s cannabis industry. He has become an industry expert in Colorado marijuana laws and the legal issues which many marijuana businesses face in navigating the complex and ever-changing regulatory environment in which they must operate. He understands the interplay between the laws regulating marijuana business investment, land use requirements, state and local licensing rules, and compliance with state marijuana regulations.
As a recognized expert in the legal issues surrounding the cannabis industry, Brian was invited to be a guest lecturer at the National Business Institute in Minneapolis and the Universidad Abierta Interamericana in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where he spoke about Colorado's marijuana laws and the challenges marijuana businesses and local governments face in the current regulatory environment. Brian also is a regular participant in the review process for Colorado marijuana laws and regulations, offering commentary and analysis to proposed legislation and regulation affecting Colorado’s cannabis industry.
A Colorado native, Brian graduated summa cum laude from the University of Colorado with a degree in Geography before earning his law degree at the University of Colorado School of Law.
