He began his legal career in the public defender's office in Marin County. While there he tried a number of cases, and with limited resources was able to obtain a number of hung juries, acquittals, or dismissals. He was then hired by a private criminal defense firm in San Francisco where he handled both state and federal criminal cases and continued to obtain successful results for his clients, including winning the release as second chair trial counsel of a client facing 50 years to life in a 3 strikes case involving allegations of sexual misconduct. After 2 years with that firm he started his own firm in San Francisco with a committment to zealous advocacy, providing superior legal services, and obtaining exceptional results for his clients.
