Attorney Biography
Lisa D. Ramirez is a California State Bar Immigration and Nationality Law Specialist and notably one of the first women and the first Spanish speaking specialist in Orange County. Her practice focuses on Department of Homeland Security I-9 investigations and audits, establishing compliance programs for companies, and obtaining various visas for professional athletes, artists, scientists, and religious workers. Additionally, she supports family-based immigration through petitions and waivers, naturalization, and removal (deportation) defense in Federal Immigration Court.
Before co-founding U.S. Immigration Law Group, LLP, Lisa established a solo practice representing individuals through all aspects of the immigration process. She began her legal career serving as the Director of Legal Services and Advocacy for Catholic Charities of Orange County, and served at the Public Law Center, where she developed the legal immigration services program.
Lisa is most proud of her pro bono work on behalf of the most vulnerable immigrants, including asylum seekers, trafficking victims, and battered women and children. She is a past president of the Hispanic Bar Association of Orange County and has served on the Hispanic Advisory Commission for the Orange County District Attorney’s Office for over two decades. In 2018 she joined the Board of the Orange County Justice Fund a new 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that coordinates legal representation for detained immigrants from Orange County and raises funds so that those who are eligible for bond, but cannot afford to pay, may be released. In the last two years, OCJF has distributed over $200,000 in bond funds and has secured the release of 50 individuals from immigration custody. Ultimately, the dream is to ensure no Orange County resident faces deportation proceedings without legal representation.
