Ashkan Emami joined the Law Offices of Carl Shusterman in 2009 and handles complex employment-based immigration matters for corporations and individuals from a wide variety of industries as well as a variety of non-immigrant and immigrant visa issues. Mr. Emami has extensive experience with Physician-based H-1B petitions, PERMs and I-140 petitions. He has assisted clients in all related matters including LCA compliance, Ability to Pay issues, Compliance with Employee Recruitment regulations, Cap issues, Consular Processing, and Prevailing Wage compliance. In addition, he has represented hundreds of clients in the Tech, Healthcare and Entertainment industries on a wide range of employment-based immigration matters.

Mr. Emami deals with all aspects of J-1 waiver petitions for Physicians through the Conrad 30 program and the Department of Health and Human Services. He has successfully prepared J-1 Waiver petitions in California, New Mexico, Wisconsin, Washington, Montana, Michigan and Illinois.

In addition, Mr. Emami has significant experience representing clients seeking Asylum based on religious and political grounds. He has successfully advocated for clients from the Middle East, Asia and Africa. Mr. Emami works closely with clients on all aspects of their Asylum petitions, including in-depth preparation with the client for the interview.

He has also successfully represented clients in numerous DACA cases since the inception of the program in June 2012.

Mr. Emami previously served as Legal Director of Mil Mujeres, Los Angeles, a non-profit organization providing legal support to victims of domestic violence. As such, he has substantial expertise in successfully preparing U-Visa and VAWA applications.

Mr. Emami graduated from the University of California, San Diego with a degree in Political Science, International Relations. He went on to earn a Juris Doctorate from American University, Washington College of Law in Washington, D.C.

He is a member of the District of Columbia Bar and he is proficient in Persian.
