Attorney Biography
Upon moving to San Diego, Amanda Cook began working with a small, busy tax, estate planning, and probate firm to gain experience before opening her own office. During her time there, she helped prepare hundreds of individual, business, and fiduciary income tax returns, providing her additional, broad-based tax knowledge. Amanda also became familiar with the intricacies of probate estates and how to avoid probate when advisable. Amanda is a skilled advisor in estate and business planning for large and small estates. In fact, she is trusted by other attorneys in the area to "ghost-write" blog articles in a variety of subject matters.
Amanda Cook first decided she wanted to be an attorney as an eight year old child. Since then, she has focused her education and extra-curricular activities on working with taxes and the elderly, and studying law and government.
Ever since Amanda began working at age fifteen at Capitol Health Care Services, a nursing home located in Dover, DE, she has been completing and filing her own tax returns. Amanda received a scholarship with the Honors College at Michigan State University, and worked at the MSU Writing Center for two years assisting undergraduates, graduate students, and even faculty members with their writing projects. She completed a thesis on Law and Literature and graduated with honors in both Bachelor’s degrees in only three years. Shortly thereafter, Amanda received a 100% merit-based scholarship to attend Michigan State University College of Law. During her time in law school, Amanda worked as an intern for the Michigan Tax Tribunal and Office of Chief Counsel, IRS. Additionally, she devoted her time to helping low-income tax payers through the MSU College of Law Tax Clinic and Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program. She graduated from Michigan State University College of Law magna cum laude before passing the California bar exam.
