Attorney Biography
Amy Hernandez exclusively represents people who have been injured by others. This includes the areas of medical malpractice, legal malpractice, wrongful death, and catastrophic injuries. Amy has first-chaired numerous trials, including multiple lengthy medical malpractice trials.
Education and Judicial ServiceAmy received her law degree in 2003 from Drake University (with honors). She served as a law clerk at the Arizona Court of Appeals for a year following law school.
Appointments and Prestigious MembershipsIn 2024, Amy was appointed by the Arizona Supreme Court to serve a 3-year term as a district representative on the Arizona State Bar Board of Governors. In 2025, Amy was voted into the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA).
Leadership and Bar ServiceAmy has served as a board member for the Arizona Association for Justice. She is also the past Chair of the Trial Practice Section and a former member of the Civil Practice and Procedure Committee for the State Bar of Arizona. Additionally, she is a former member of the Morris K. Udall Inn of Court. Amy served as the 2007-2008 president of the Young Lawyers Division of the Pima County Bar Association and as a board member for the State Bar of Arizona Young Lawyers Division from 2006 to 2008.
US Military ServiceAmy is a United States Army veteran who served as a military intelligence analyst from 1996 to 2000. She was stationed in Fort Hood, Texas, where she analyzed and distributed intelligence information. She also held a top secret clearance.
Recognitions and AwardsIn 2013, Amy was named one of Tucson’s Top 40 community leaders under 40 years old. She was also named a Southwest Super Lawyer Rising Star from 2012 to 2016 and a Southwest Super Lawyer from 2020 to 2024. Amy has also been named in Best Lawyers in Plaintiff's Personal Injury Litigation and Medical Malpractice Law in 2026.
Legal Education and ContactAmy routinely teaches continuing legal education to other lawyers for the State Bar of Arizona and other organizations.
