If It's Important, This Attorney Is NOT The One To Hire
I paid $1k just to have this attorney to see my son in jail. According to my son, he said all the
right things that he wanted to hear. He wanted me to hire him. Unfortunately, I did as he asked.
My first impression was that Mr. Cohen was an a**hole. (my last impression is that he is a greedy,
incompetent a**hole.) I paid a total of $10k for his appearance in jail. My son was charged as a
felony when the law clearly stated it should have been tried as a misdemeanor. The crime was
“online impersonation” for allegedly posting a picture of his (now ex) wife to Craigslist. My
son was in jail for 15 months before his first trial. Mr. Cohen had no witnesses. Result was a
deadlocked jury 7-5, in my son’s favor. The private attorney who had been assigned to help Mr.
Cohen said Mr. Cohen should have stood up and asked for the case to be dismissed when the
prosecution’s expert witness said he could not prove my son had been the one who posted the
picture. The prosecution decided to retry the case, a case where there was no harm or intent for
harm. It took another nine months for that trial to happen. For six of those months, Mr. Cohen was
working to secure one witness to testify about Craigslist not being a social media site, but a
bulletin board. At that trial, Mr. Cohen said he would call me as a character witness against the
wife. And at that trial, the judge said anyone who was to be a witness could not observe the
proceedings, which meant I was unable to stay in the courtroom. Mr. Cohen did not call me as a
witness. My son was found guilty and sentenced to 75 years in prison. The only way I could get
Mr. Cohen to talk to me while waiting for the trials was to not pay my monthly payment. At the
final trial, he asked me three times if I had my last $500 for him. I should have fired Mr. Cohen
and asked the judge if I could represent my son. I can guarantee the outcome would have been
drastically different. So, heed this WARNING: This attorney is lazy, incompetent, says things he
doesn’t do, and is all about the money.
