Attorney Biography
As the head of the workers’ compensation department at DM Injury Law, Hyemin Byun is deeply committed to securing the strongest possible outcomes for her clients. She is relentless in protecting their rights and takes pride in advocating tirelessly on their behalf.
Hyemin began her legal career as a public defender, representing individuals who lacked the resources to hire private counsel. In that role, she developed significant courtroom experience and a compassionate, client-centered approach to advocacy. Helping people whose voices might otherwise go unheard remains one of the most meaningful aspects of her work.
In her workers’ compensation practice, Hyemin prioritizes listening carefully to her clients’ concerns and addressing potential issues early in the process. She is known for her meticulous preparation of claims, a strategy that strengthens each case and improves the likelihood of success. Hyemin also places a strong emphasis on communication, taking the time to explain the law and the claims process in clear, accessible terms so clients always know what to expect.
Hyemin grew up in Junction City, Kansas, and comes from a family with deep ties to service. As the daughter of immigrants and the sister of a member of the Army National Guard, she has a sincere respect for military families and service members. She earned her bachelor’s degree in applied behavioral sciences, with a minor in business, from the University of Kansas, and later discovered her passion for the law at Washburn University School of Law.
Outside of work, Hyemin enjoys spending time with friends, exploring new restaurants, and attending live music events around the Kansas City metro area. She’s also a fan of live sports—especially when cheering on the Chiefs—and often spends her weekends hiking and enjoying the outdoors.
