DO NOT LET MS. SHINGLER REPRESENT A MINOR. Ms. Shingler was appointed to a routine matter in 2021 to provide an objective report on the educational needs of my son, which she mishandled appallingly. Highlights include: 1. Failing to complete the report sufficiently timely such that the children didn’t know where they’re attending school in the Fall solely because of her inability to make a final recommendation. 2. She changed that recommendation approximately ½ dozen times over a few-week period, each time seemingly to keep herself engaged in a lucrative matter, not to represent the need of the children that had long been met through negotiation of the parties. Each time the parties, including Ms. Shingler, reached an agreement to settle the parting plan, which included excusing her from the matter, she voiced irrelevant concerns the next day in “the best interest of the children,” when she’s just been on record as being satisfied their needs were met. She created this expense for parties and chaos for the children solely for the possibility of reaming on the matter where she wasn’t needed and “advising on the education needs” of my son. 3. Worked out of scope and billed at an excessive rate (one of the largest bills my attorney has ever seen, the only one comparable was for a 3 year matter whereas mine was one summer for a narrow investigation of education needs) 4. Against GA code, involved herself in matters of the parents’ finances, though none were relevant to the wellbeing of the kids 5. Made her initial recommendation without verifying any facts and only talking to one party. Moreover, she acted partially to one party who was working pro se, essentially acting as her counsel, when her obligation is to only represent the needs of her client, the children. 5. Her final recommendation, when she was able to at long last make one, was troublingly poor judgment and harmful for the kids. The guardian ad litem model in GA astonishingly has no code of ethics nor overseeing ethics board. Ms. Shingler is well aware of this. If appointed, she’ll burrow into you family like a tick and never leave. Accept appointment of anyone else besides her. DO NOT LET MS. SHINGLER REPRESENT A MINOR. She will drain your family.
