$31.9 million
This case involved the tragic death of Saverio
Sasso, a 51-year-old man who died due to multiple
failed intubation attempts while under the care of
Cleveland Clinic Weston. After experiencing
respiratory distress, Sasso’s airway was not
managed properly, leading to an anoxic brain
injury and death. The lawsuit argued that the
clinic's failure to perform an emergency
tracheostomy or transfer him to another capable
provider resulted in fatal negligence.
