Amanda Brunson is an experienced criminal defense attorney in Tampa, FL, at the Sammis Law Firm.
Amanda Brunson graduated Summa Cum Laude from University of North Florida in 2009. While obtaining her Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice, she had the opportunity to complete an internship at the Public Defender’s Office for the 4th Judicial Circuit.
Ms. Brunson always knew she wanted to be an attorney, but her passion for criminal defense work began during her first internship assisting with the Investigations Bureau and interviewing clients at the jail.
After obtaining her B.A., Amanda attended Florida Coastal School of Law in Jacksonville, Florida. She finished in the top 9% of her class, and graduated Cum Laude in 2012.
While in law school, she focused her studies on criminal work and completed a Florida Bar Fellowship with the Public Defender’s Office in the Major Crimes Bureau. Amanda worked on crimes of a sexual nature as well as Jimmy Ryce cases, gaining valuable experience for her future criminal defense career.
Upon graduating from law school and completing the bar exam, Amanda returned home to Tampa, Florida to work as an Assistant Public Defender at the Public Defender’s Office for the 13th Judicial Circuit. Amanda worked as an Assistant Public Defender for three and a half years, and in that time represented clients in over 25 jury trials and over 40 bench trials.
Amanda has handled thousands of cases in county court, representing clients in matters such as DUI, DWLS, Battery, Possession of Cannabis, and Petit Theft. For the last year and a half, Amanda has focused her practice primarily on felony level cases.
She has represented clients in an array of areas, including felony level traffic offenses such as:Felony Driving under the Influence (DUI); All theft related matters (Grand Theft, Grand Theft Motor Vehicle, Burglary, Robbery); Violent Crimes (Battery on a LEO, Resisting with Violence, Burglary with Assault or Battery, Aggravated Assault Deadly Weapon, Kidnapping); and felony level drug cases; sex crime cases including Capital Sexual Battery and Lewd and Lascivious Exhibition.
