Just a terrible "service"... Cancelled on the DAY OF THE COURT DATE. Sent his clueless assistant in who seemed like 25 years old and knew NOTHING. Dished out 10k and we got a WORSE result than if we had NO lawyer. We were better off representing ourselves. Not to mention I had a feeling he and the other lawyer and the judge making deals with each other behind the scenes. The system stinks and feels very corrupt and hopefully the folks of the bad service have not gotten away with this. God is Watching you Michael Collum you will pay

It took me a long time to get the courage to write this knowing that Michael Collum threatened to sue me if I wrote a negative review. But I'm glad I'm not alone and that he does more damage than good once I read the other reviews here. Do not waste your time and money!!! He was suppose to represent me in a child support case. He took my money and only showed to the first initial hearing for 5 minutes then said he had to go because he didn't have a babysitter for his two dogs. I haven't heard from him since. The worst family law attorney in existence and he doesn't even have any kids of his own.

This law firm has incredibly shady and unethical billing practice. they bill for EVERYTHING. every time i emailed or sent a text to my lawyer i was billed for 10 minutes. i would have to send four emails to get a response and would get billed for each one. I cut my losses and found a new lawyer (SO much better) and realized that they do not care about results. They want your case to linger on so they can keep billing you. They asked my permission to bill my card on file. I said no and they went ahead and did it anyway. Even their paralegals bill out at $195 an hour and they pay her $25 an hour. And if i asked the paralegal a question i was billed at that rate and then also at the lawyers rate because they would relay my question to the attorney and then get back to me. Do not use them under any circumstance for a family law case. They are the most shady and untethical family law firm. Avoid Michael Collum and David Handel. Two bumbling goofs!

So disappointed. The interests of my daughter were not represented, nor were mine. My lawyer (R Michael Collum) seemed to care less about trying to get me time with my daughter and more about making his job easy by simply acquiescing to the oppositions demands. My lawyer is (was) not a partner, maybe that was the problem, but I paid an exorbitant amount for services rendered and ended up with a legally binding custody agreement in which I have less rights and less time with my daughter than I did when I started. I was also advised not to cause issues, which meant I didn't see my child for, essentially, the entirety of litigation; which was 8 months. I do not recommend this firm and Michael is a dirtbag. Additionally I was charged for services well after the agreement was signed, which were unrequested. Read the fee agreement closely, if you don't terminate services in writing they will continue to "work" on your behalf, and yes, you will be legally obligated to pay.

Hiring R. Michael Collum was the second worst decision I have made in my lifetime. Do understand from my end, I better have some evidence or proof for making such a review of a law firm. I welcome anyone to contact me directly, will be glad to provide. From start to finish my experience was mired in what I would call is incompetence from a legal standpoint. I paid a significant amount for representation, received marginal services at best. Basic questions posed about case status would go unanswered weeks on end. When answered, they would be billed at an hourly rate for providing simple updates. I also received legal documents from other cases via email. At the end of my proceedings, was left with zero credit towards my case, seemed to roll over on all issues. They're only interest was to stretch out billables, close the case out without your best interests. Unless you want to hire a lawyer to help clean up after you hired the this dirtbag Michael Collum and his coward David Handel, look elsewhere. Months later, still trying to work through issues that were never wholly resolved. Overall, would not recommend, if zero stars were an option... Look elsewhere or recommend them to your worst enemy.

It's not often than I right a negative review on a business. I understand that negative reviews can impact a business and I'm very conscious about avoiding emotional reviews and to stick to the facts. In this case, I allowed several months to pass so that I'm just relying on facts and not emotion. I retained Michael Collum and David Handel based in the recommendation of a family friend so I went in with confidence based on that. I needed an attorney to help with an urgent custody matter. I retained him and paid my fees upfront. Within a few weeks, communication completely stopped. I emailed several times per week. Called the office and there were no responses. Several months after retaining him, I finally got through to a paralegal Al that basically said "I'll relay the message and have him call you back". No return calls. I called back again and she said the same thing again. Finally, 3 months later, he responded in an email, no phone call (May 2022), No apologies, no explanation despite my plea for help in my case and how his lack of response and support left me in a very vulnerable position. At that time, his message stated he would provide a service that never occurred. Basically filing an emergency custody order. So I followed up with him a month later, on June 2022 and he has yet to respond. I contacted the courts system to see if he filed the emergency order, which has not occurred. This has been the most disappointing business arrangement that I've encountered in my entire life. That may seem harsh, but considering his retainer fee and what's at stake, custody of my children, I think this is very fair. I've also been extremely patient month after month expecting the professional courtesy from an attorney.

I should of listen to everyone reviews! Michael Collum the worst family law attorney I have ever encountered. He took our money and never provided service. He's not professional AT ALL! I hope he is put out of business for scamming people out of their money. Find another attorney!!!!!!

MICHAEL COLLUM IS HORRIBLE!! Quick to charge and collect and that's about it! He won't fight for you. If you want to WIN your case... look elsewhere. I gave him two stars hopefully you read this review before you hire him.

Michael Collum is the absolute worst family law attorney you can hire. I started with this company for a divorce seemed like a good thing as he kept on pushing me. He said he would fight for sweet equity in the joint home which there was not much. He dropped the ball as soon as we went to arbitration, didn't even bring it up again! I guess he figured out the house was under his friends name but didn't check first. H said to wait to take my half of the joint bank account only to find out there was no money in it because the money was owed for a loan. after $16K paying this clown all he did was bring up one statute, everything else I negotiated with my Ex. A total waste of 16K!! Do not your money on this low life he will take it all and bankrupt you.

I recently hired Michael Collum to represent me when sued for additional child support becuase my ex things I make millions a year when I make a fractions of the money I use to make. I felt that he was not engaged in my case and he frequently ignored my emails and calls. Perhaps he was distracted by more important cases because he said he was busy when he took my $15,000 in cash. I did not feel informed nor adequately represented. He is ver expensive as well. I would not use him again. His invoiced are padded with services never provided. Avoid this con artist.

I tried to meet with Michael Collum and his sidekick David Handel. My husband contacted himoriginally. We made an appintment over the phone. When I arrived at his office nobody was there. Knocked on the door no answer but her hours state 8am to 8pm. I waited half an hour then called him again. He said he didnt know when had an appointment, that it didn't get into his computer adn that he's celebrating gay pride. Left a never looked back.

Michael Collum is a dirt bag. I called regarding a custody case and the person I spoke to on the phone this gave me a list of fees that they would charge me. When I asked why I should retain them and not someone else he got upset and said it's probably not going to work then. I need a lawyer who will fight my case like it's their own and this law firm from the start seem like a waste of time and just someone who wants to take advantage of people. Avoid these dirt bags.

I work very close to the office. I walked in and was scheduled for an appointment at a later date. I was emailed an hour before and told he had to cancel. I scheduled 2 more appointments both were canceled at the last moment. I told them I can walk to your office in 2 minutes just let me know and I'll be there. I never heard back. Found another attorney in the same building who sat with me for over an hour without an appointment or lengthy paper work. Mrs. Michael Collum is not recommended.

My girlfriend and I hired Michael Collum. We were between him and another lawyer, and we regret we went with him for the following reasons: - He did not accomplish anything that he said he'd fight for on our first visit. - He failed to provide critical advice that would have protected us in the process and that I'm sure a better lawyer would have communicated. - He delayed the process for months, when it could have been much quicker, and again, to accomplish nothing. - He charged us double what the other lawyer, a reputable one, quoted us.

It's hard to know where to start with a review of Michael Collum and David Handel. Let me begin by saying that the 1-star reviews is all these clowns deserve. If you seen any five star reviews for these schmucks I Wouldn't be surprised if they recruited friends to write them or wrote them themselves. I agree with those who noted the problematic email exchanges. Michael made it clear at the beginning of my case he preferred email communication. I did that, but 9 out of 10 times our email exchanges had much more to do with what I was doing wrong than how he could help my case. It was like arguing about an online review but over email. Michael was more concerned with protecting his reputation than he was about actually helping me. He said he was skilled at removing reviews if anybody left any online. Cost. I am still deep in debt because of how quickly dirtbag Michael Collum racked up lawyer fees. It was ridiculous. Monthly bills would be many thousands of dollars. If you send them an email, it will cost you $500. They charge $550 an hour, and charge in 10-minute segments. And they charge you for every moment they spend on your case. I have worked with a few lawyers now and I can say, this practice is not typical. I could have saved myself tens of thousands of dollars by switching lawyers sooner. I can honesty say my case was worse after their help. Michael Collum didn't want to work with me so he pushed me on to donkey David Handel. And David was too busy to give it me full attention. My only regret is that I didn't end the relationship sooner. I have worked with other lawyers now and I can see just how difficult that relationship was. Stay away from Michael Collum!

I engaged Michael Collum, to assist my modification of judgement. During this months long engagement, pre-Virus (no work from home requirement) never did I have an in-person meeting, despite my repeated request. Fees related exceeded $9,000. The facet of their practice that exceeded expectation was their ability to bill, using a sophisticated, detailed system. Unfortunately, the incredible condescending attitude & discussions by these attorneys, to their customer/client. After all this, they told me that the judgment was permanent & they couldn't help me. I never want to experience that again. Very unfortunate that attitude & communication/interaction wasn't better managed.

Worst firm in town period! Go find any other firm to represent you. This firm has completely screwed my father, keeps rescheduling final orders to run out more fees, disregards 100% direction. Didnt even finalize asest sheet till 12 days prior to final order, due to lack of effort he allowed a rescheduling of final order, setting months out farther. 7 months with now another continuation.. P 100% would not recommend to anyone. I write this review in regret as I'm the one who referred my father. a friend of someone at the firm referred me. my father does not have a Facebook otherwise I'm sure he would have already left a even worse review as it would be detailed

OMG where do I start. Papers weren't filed to the court which caused major problems with my case. Michael Collum and David Handel was completely incompetent and very rude, and when I spoke him numerous times, he refused to see the issue. Said they would be fixed. So I left them and went to an excellent attorney but the damage was done from this horrible firm! Avoid these imcompetent attorneys!

I have been through so much for 16 years now with my child custody case and there were some final items that I was referred to Michael Collum at this firm to help me with. After confirming that they would be able to take my case, and taking the fee for the initial consultation, a few weeks later they tell me they don't have time to help even though they sent me the new client engagement paperwork immediately after our first consultation. To take someone's money for a meeting based on your initial promise that you would be able to help and then backing away without at least refunding the money shows that you are unscrupulous money hungry people who deserve the bad karma I'm sure you get for operating this way. I seriously can't believe that this is what I had to contend with when I finally thought I had a firm that I could trust after being put through so much heartache over the years.

This firm failed to get me a restraining order against someone who attacked me in a public place with multiple witnesses. Now two years later, that person is starting to show up around me again. Thanks guys, I hope you enjoyed my three thousand dollars. What did it buy you ? When you call this firm, you will talk to Michael Collum or his sidekick. They are both personable, knowledgeable attorneys. Unfortunately for court they sent a much less experienced attorney, that I'd never even spoken to. I don't think he's ever done a restraining order case. For a couple months I'd been communicating with Collum, last minute this other attorney was given the case. The judge literally schooled him on what was missing to get the restraining order. You need to provide proof of a pattern of harassment. I didn't' know this, and either the attorney didn't know this or couldn't be bothered. End result is I've got a psycho walking around ready to do violence to me-- again. I could have easily furnished proof of ongoing harassment if asked. If you need an attorney, ask friends and family. If they don't have any suggestions, ask coworkers or neighbors. Don't trust reviews or web sites.

I don't understand how this firm has a 1 day average turn around time on responding to requests. I requested a consult weeks ago and am still waiting for even an acknowledgement. I get you may not be in office with COVID-19 keeping everyone at home. I also don't care. If you solicit business online then you should learn to respond from anywhere. It's 2020 in Phoenix, I'm sure you can find a way to access the internet to type out two words like "no thanks". As for responding to my request now- no thanks, I found someone else.

Michael Collum incompetent, dishonest and provided me with absolutely ZERO legal guidance or support. I had orders of protection in place and I hoped that this lawyer would help create safety and advocate on behalf of my kids and I. Contrastingly, I spent more time advocating on my behalf with my own lawyer than the opposing party. My ex earns at least 5x more than I do, is far behind in support and this lawyer volunteered me to pay my exes 70% of medical bills. Due to this lawyer basically "not giving a shit" my sons autism treatment was delayed almost 1 year until I found a lawyer to actually represent our best interest. This "lawyer" made an already traumatic situation even more horrible, scary and stressful. I paid about $20000 for absolutely nothing.

I was quoted a price to take care of my divorce, I ended up paying 4 times that price. Michael Collum charges for EVERY LITTLE thing he does. I ended up not contacting him with questions and concerns that came up with the divorce because all I was seeing if $$ flying out of my pocket into his. He made countless "suggestions" about what I was to get from my divorce, from appropriate spousal maintenance, amount and duration, division of debt, repayment of bills, fees, loans, even having my ex pay half the lawyer fees. Needless to say those were all illusions, and I got half the amount of spousal maintenance, a fraction of the division of debt, and nothing back for anything else discussed. He was ALL gung-ho in the beginning, but by the end ceased most contact, and pushed me to take a horrible deal. The icing on this whole cake, came today. I was told since DAY ONE, over a year of working with him. We discussed this matter many times as I didn't want to get screwed in this matter. Turns out, that's not the case at all! Now I'm screwed out of the cost of medical bills, I was sure were covered and aren't (within that 30 day window) or I HAVE to pick up Cobra which will back date and cost me $1200+ minimum! The amount he ended up with came to more than 50% of my settlement, (without the retirement). The biggest regret I have with my entire divorce, actually has nothing to do with my ex, unfortunately it was my choice in lawyer.

The worst attorney that I had ever deal with in my entire life! Michael Collum took advantage of my mother and eventually took all of her money and maxed out her credit cards. A heatless coward masquerading as a fighter of women but does more damage than good. Stay clear from this so called family law attorney.

Consumers beware. We hired Michael Collum. Went through process to draft then to final. Should have been simple because we had already agreed to what was to be on stipulation. Not only did he complicate matters by saying we had to do further legal matters By getting filing papers. All of which was completely unnecessary. We hired this coward. Our new lawyer has to rewrite total stipulation due to so many mistakes. He was paid in advance 10000 cash. Still after months won't write invoice. Leaving us no choice but to settle in court.

This law firm is extremely unprofessional. Michael Collum has no idea what it is to raise kids. The staff are incompetent and do not follow up on your case and the office staff dress like they are working in a flea market. Do not go there if you want your case resolved. I'm amazed that the Bar hasn't reviewed his cases. Totally disgusted.

All Michael Collum cares about is money. They intentionally delayed things so that they could continue to collect. Small emails or phone calls were $100. The lawyer that represented never took the initiative to do anything, we constantly had to stay on top of him to file things, it almost felt intentional so he could bill us for the phone call we had to make to remind him to please take care of something. We took a chance on this firm Bc we had heard that they were compassionate and family ran that promised to always put our best interest and situation first. The lawyer is a great talker and made you feel that he was organized and aggressive enough to handle our case.. the paralegal David Handel was more helpful and knowledgeable then Michael. Do your homework and find a firm that will be more concerned with fighting a case for you instead of draining your bank account with no results. TERRIBLE!!

DON'T BOTHER WITH MICHAEL COLLUM! They start out so professional, attentive and friendly...and then...nothing. Broken promises, emails and phone calls not returned. This is what gives attorneys a bad name. After they took the retainer, we had a pleasant visit with the attorney. Everything was spelled out and agreed upon. The attorney said this was cut and dry, not complicated. We reiterated the facts and he said he would write up the paperwork either by the end of the day or definitely by tomorrow! After a week with nothing, I called to complain. Apparently, the attorney had some questions...things we had already discussed!! This infuriated me. I mean, really?? 9 days later, the document came. Well a couple changes where need to be added and we are still waiting... I will repost if anything happens better. I want to ask for my retainer and go elsewhere. Very disgusted and disappointed!! Update: Work was never done.
