I am a family lawyer who specializes in settling divorce and other family law cases.

I practice Collaborative Law, and I mediate for clients without separate attorneys, as well as clients who are each represented by counsel. I provide client "coaching" services for individual clients who wish to negotiate their own agreements, but need help with crafting an agreement that will meet their needs as well as Texas' statutory requirements.

In addition, I provide a service through which clients can learn about the issues that need to be settled in their case and negotiate their own settlement terms, then create their divorce paperwork using a web-based program I created, along with some partners. By using this program, clients enjoy a fixed-fee cost as well as the benefit of having me to turn to if they have questions or reach an impasse in their negotiations.

I no longer take cases that require court hearings because I believe that the adversarial system is harmful to divorcing parties, their children, and society as a whole.

I have been practicing law in Austin, Texas, since 1985. I have been board-certified as a specialist in family law since 1990. I am a frequent lecturer for the State Bar of Texas and other educational organizations. I am a fellow in the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers.
