Attorney Biography

Dean Burnetti is board certified by the Florida Bar in Civil Trial Law and Workers' Compensation Law.

Born and raised in Elgin, Illinois, Dean attended Seminary at Oklahoma Baptist Seminary. Upon receiving his seminary degree, he attended Warner University in Central Florida, then returned to Oklahoma where he attended Oral Roberts University Law School and earned his Juris Doctorate degree. He settled in Florida and began practicing law in 1986. His dream was to someday open his own Christian law firm where he could help find justice for injury victims as well as minister to injured souls.

Over the course of his career, Dean studied and became Board Certified by the Florida Bar in two areas. In fact, he’sone of only fourattorneys in Florida who is Board Certified in both Civil Litigation Lawand Workers’ Compensation Law.

Dean has practiced law in the greater Polk County area for 30 years. Over the last 16 years, he’s concentrated the focus of his career on the field of civil litigation, including jury trials.

Specialist in Civil Trial Law -

Florida Bar Board Certification in Civil Trial Law - For purposes of specialty certification, the Florida Bar defines the term "civil trial law" as the "practice of law dealing with litigation of civil controversies in all areas of law before state courts, federal courts, administrative agencies and arbitrators."


Attorneys certified in civil trial law in have met the minimum standards for civil trial law certification, provided in Rule 6-4.3, include the practice of law for at least 5 years, substantial involvement in the specialty of civil trial law (50% or more), handling of at least 15 contested civil cases, including cases before juries as lead counsel, and 50 hours of approved civil trial law certification continuing legal education. Attorneys certified in civil trial law must also submit to peer review and pass a written examination.


Certified in Workers' Compensation -

Florida Bar Board Certification in Workers' Compensation - Under Rule 6-11.2, the term "Workers' Compensation" is defined as "the analysis and litigation of problems or controversies arising out of the Florida Workers' Compensation Law" under Chapter 440 of the Florida Statutes.

In Florida, workers' compensation attorneys often go to trial to prosecute or defend a claim which can include a claim for attorney's fees.

Attorneys also participate in rule nisi petitions and hearings for the enforcement of a workers' compensation order.

Many of these hearings and trials take place within the jurisdiction of the Florida Office of the Judges of Compensation Claims.

Workers' Compensation attorneys in Florida also handle appeals in federal workers' compensation matters, Federal Longshore and Harbor Workers' Compensation Act matters, and other circuit court actions.

Florida Lawyers certified as specialist in Workers' Compensation by the Florida Board of Legal Specialization have demonstrated substantial involvement in this area of the law.
